Stars With Guitars is a Country Music Guitar-Pull, produced by local Providence Rhode Island country radio station Cat Country 98.1 (WCTK-FM).

Stars With Guitars is produced by Bob Walker, Program Director of WCTK and Vice President of Programming for Hall Communications and Briget D'Antonio, Promotions and Marketing Director for WCTK. Stars With Guitars is the evolution of a popular event known until this year as the Cat Country Snowball. Snowball began in 2009 at the Crown Plaza in Warwick. Country music artists like Gretchen Wilson, Jerrod Niemann, Jake Owen and Jason Michael Carroll started a Rhode Island tradition. Quickly outgrowing the ballroom, Snowball moved to Rhodes on the Pawtuxet in Cranston in 2012. Country artists like Montgomery Gentry, Joe Nichols, Rodney Atkins, Thompson Square, Gloriana Big & Rich and Parmalee helped grow Snowball even bigger.

With the show now selling out in less than day, the decision was made to move it again to a bigger location: this time to the Dunkin' Donuts Center in downtown Providence. The challenge immediately arose in keeping the event close and intimate in an arena so much bigger. The solution was to evolve Snowball into Stars With Guitars and make it a guitar-pull. In this style of show, there is no opening act or headliner. All the acts are on stage at the same time: laughing, telling stories and singing songs.

"The guitar-pull style of show allows Cat Country fans the opportunity to still feel up-close and personal with the artists, said D'Antonio. "Hearing the stories behind the songs and how they root for each other is all part of the fun."

"It's important to note that the show is amped-up acoustic, added Walker. "There are no screaming guitars or drum machines to hide behind. This is country music in it's purest form! Artists will tell you that a guitar-pull is a challenging event in that you are all alone in each song - yet you have the energy and comradery of the other performers to lift you up. It's really a remarkable format and we know these performers can all bring an A game!"

While the 2016 event was in May due to availability of the Dunkin Donuts Center, future events will be planned for mid-March - the best time to fly-in artists. "Each one of this years artists is going out of their way to play our show," said Walker. "By May, most country artists are on summer tours. Everyone on the bill is coming quite a distance to play for us ... what an honor."

Cat Country 98.1 is one of the last of the family owned, large market, stand-alone radio stations. Cat Country is owned by Hall Communications who's cause is to do what's right for our listeners, advertisers, families and communities to make a positive difference in their lives"
